    Spinacia oleracea

    A.K.A.: Common spinach. Spinach - Spinach oleracea

    PROPERTIES: Tonic, Diuretic, Laxative, Depurative, Calmative.

         Spinach is recommended as a good food against acidosis, scurvy, in the treatment anemia. The juice of the leaves and stems is used as a general tonic, diuretic, laxative, and depurative of the blood. The raw leaves are said to aid digestion and a cleanser of the digestive tract. Spinach is a calmative to the digestive tract, at the same time, it stimulates the appetite. Spinach is recommended for brain ailments, and arteriosclerosis. It is a wonderful source of Vitamin C, Vitamin, Iron, Calcium and Chloraphyll. It is also good for suppressed menstruation, arthritis, intestinal catarrh and diarrhea.
