Astragalus is rich in polysaccharides which are basically the main nutrient that feeds our bodies. Astragalus is well-known (and documented) for supporting of T-cell function and overall immune strength at a very deep level (bone marrow reserves) and is highly acclaimed as probably the most important of all deep immune tonics. Patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation live twice as long and are more resistant to secondary infections when using Astragalus. It can help ameliorate bone marrow depression and gastrointestinal toxicity resulting from those two protocols. It stimulates interferon production, macrophage activity and antibody response and also inhibits free radicals. Astragalus reduces T suppressor cells and enhances the function of the adrenal cortex. It helps to build the blood and lowers blood sugar levels in diabetics.
Astragalus is also known to increase strength and vitality. It helps in the elimination of toxins thus promoting the healing of damaged tissue. It supports liver and spleen function and protects the liver against chemical damage caused by chemotherapy. Astragalus helps to normalize blood pressure.
- Astragalus is a strong immune-enhancing herb and superior tonic, thus aids in recovery from illness and surgery. It combats fatigue by nourishing exhausted adrenals.
- Astragalus is an adaptogen herb which as been credited with long life of the cell. Research has been done to show that Astragalus increases the strength of T-cells, the white blood cells of the body that attack the invaders that cause disease.
- Urine flow is improved by Astragalus, thereby reducing the potential of infection predominantly in the bladder.
- Astragalus is an anti-clotting agent and has vaso-dilating properties, helping prevent coronary heart disease and improving circulation.
- Astragalus has been demonstrated to increase energy by the reduction of toxicity in the liver. As such, it acts as a heart tonic, which lowers blood pressure, dilates blood vessels and increases endurance to fatigued hearts.
- Astragalus increases the flow of bile and digestive fluids.
