June 12: "Wall Street"—Bryce Canyon NP. Although Bryce Canyon is an amazing place, with its many shades of rising "hoodoos" predominating the landscape, I decided not to stay there an extra day to hike, as I had spent several days exploring the canyons just a couple of years ago. One of the historical bits that I remember about Bryce Canyon is that it was originally discovered by a farmer by the name of Bryce who had lost one of his cows. In searching for his wondering bovine he stumbled upon this amazing canyon with all of these brightly colored formations that went on for miles. Farmer Bryce declared, "What an interesting place to lose a cow."
